We arrived in Bali on a flight from Jakarta and headed for Nusa Dua where we stayed for four nights. Once again we had found a small place with maybe 10 rooms, this time with an excellent Indonesian and Indian specialty restaurant next door.
Nusa Dua is a planned development in Bali which has a large number of 5 star and highly rated resorts, with beach clubs and fancy restaurants in a gated tourism development centre. Needless to say our place was outside of this area and about a tenth of the price. The beach was nice but not as spectacular as Pip had hoped and overall the place just seemed quiet and restrained. Maybe that is all you want if you are paying that sort of money?

We enjoyed some culture at the theatre with a show demonstrating dances synonymous with various islands and regions in Indonesia.

On the final day we spent far too long at a private hospital in Kuta trying to get some new medication for Pip. It was eye opening how many tourists were in there after scooter crashes, surfboard incidents and the dreaded Bali belly. Indonesian people must think Westerners are all muppets who struggle to get through life!!!
